Tarmac King Road Limestone Mine
Environmental Impact Statement

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to evaluate potential impacts of rock mining within wetlands in Southern Levy County, Florida. The Tarmac King Road Limestone Mine EIS website has been developed to provide the public with access to key documents, announcements, background information, and a means for requesting specific information.

The Scoping Process

The EIS Process for this project was in the Scoping stage from 2/19/08 through 4/26/08. CEQ regulations (40 CFR 1501.7) require an early and open process for determining the scope of an EIS and for identifying significant issues related to the proposed action.

Scoping Meetings were held on March 26 in Inglis, Florida, and on March 27 in Chiefland, Florida to gather public comments on the scoping process for the Tarmac King Road Limestone Mine EIS. The Corps provided a short presentation on the proposed EIS.

The period for accepting comments on the Scoping of the EIS ended April 26, 20008. Comments received during the scoping meetings, both verbal and written, as well as those submitted via mail and through this website will be considered when drafting the EIS.
